Soil Potassium Effects on Cotton Lint Yield and Fiber Quality on the Texas High Plains

چکیده

When comparing soil potassium (K) levels common in West Texas to the current Mehlich III-K critical for cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.), fertilizer K applications are seldom recommended. However, when is applied, positive responses yield have been reported. Studies were conducted Lamesa and New Deal, TX to: 1) determine effects on leaf concentrations; 2) evaluate whether application increases crop growth, yield, fiber quality sufficient soils; 3) under water deficit conditions also quality. In Lamesa, muriate of potash (KCl) was applied using two methods, knife-injected (0-0-15) broadcast (0-0-60); at KCl knife injection. Potassium rates included 0, 45, 90, 135, 180 kg ha-1 with both high (90% ET) low (30% irrigation levels. At 2016 90% ET irrigation, lint greater 90 (2,153 lint) compared treatment, all treatments 30% irrigation. There no differences 2017 Lamesa. similar amongst years. Although increased level application, observed water-deficit suggesting further research needed better understand dynamics semiarid production systems.

Total toxic aldicarb residues in soil, cottonseed, and cotton lint following a soil treatment with the insecticide on the Texas high plains.

Aldicarb residues in soil, cottonseed, and cotton lint following an in-furrow soil application of 15 lb/acre of a 10% granular formulation of the insecticide on the Texas High Plains were investigated by a gas chromatographic-flame photometric detection procedure. Aldicarb residues (as the sulfone) as high as 1.65 ppm (average of three laboratoyies) were detected in soil from dryland fields 3 (...

Crop production management during the period of boll setting and maturation of cot ton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) is critical in determining lint yield and quality. A field investigation conducted at Lubbock, Texas, during 1977--1980 included three cultivars to study t...
